Fritillaries debut album is out today

We at Pear O’Legs have been working with Fritillaries on their debut album for the last two years now and today is a very special day. It’s the first full album to have been completely developed and released on the label and I have to say, it is one of the best debut albums I think I’ve ever heard. There’s depth and space where you want and need it but there’s also groove, energy and strength there too. It’s rooted in the folk tradition, both leaning into americana and English folk without becoming twee, which can be a challenage. Also it doesn’t feel stale or antiquated due to this, it feels like an album for 2022. With it’s mature lyrics and song structures it overcomes any of the stereotypes of the pop-folk. It’s an album about lockdown, but it’s transcended the subject matter and become something so much more personal and nourishing.

Hannah and Gabriel have quickly become experts in their craft and we can’t wait to see the way this young duo grown and develope.

Come see them at the London launch on the 21st July at The Sherriff Centre in Hampstead. They’ll be playing as a full stringband with Kit Massey (violin) and Andy Hamill (double bass)
